Introduction

The qualities of film for HDTV/DV camcoders.

Nowadays, every video production is digitized - from commercial films to hollywood movies. HDTV camcoders (or even DV cams in a low-budget situation) have replaced almost all the analog camcoders in production sites. They are new and convenient tools but the images they produce are missing something from the good old days...Have you ever felt anything like that?

The biggest reason for this nostalgia is the change to the depth of field in modern cameras. The size of the CCD of a 50 thousand-dollar HDTV camcoder is only 2/3 of an inch in diameter and that of a DV cam is only a third. This change in area has a huge effect on DOF.

Since these digital camcoders can only shoot with deep DOF because of their small CCDs, the images they produce are pan-focused. Especially with DV cams, every object in the picture is in focus which makes the images closed, featureless, flat and compressed. CinemaFocus has been developed to reproduce realistic depth of field qualities, normally associated with film cameras, in digital video images after shooting.

Furthermore, CinemaFocus does not require complicated settings like FinalFocus. You can create realistic focal effects at the touch of a button. (>>Comparison with FinalFocus)

The Video Revolution, Virtual Cinema Camera

For Film Production
One of the benefits of this software is its ability to revitalize the featureless, flat images of HDTV/DV camcoders. CinemaFocus also lets you control DOF effects in composite images composed of pan-focused/
blueback materials.

This means you can control and adjust each component of your work until you are satisfied with the emphasis on the main subject and the focus on secondary objects and backgrounds.

This virtual camera can help us achieve the qualities of film with the ease of digital processing. CinemaFocus is available for less than $1,000 - a price similar to a standard DV camcoder.

For Animated Film Production
Digitization in this field has lost the natural spatiality of images produced by multi-plane cameras. CinemaFocus lets you defocus any cell you like to reproduce a realistic perspective.

For video game production
In some cases the more processing applied to CG images, the less natural they become. CinemaFocus allows us to experience natural depth and perspective in digital creations.

Fast and Reliable, Iris jet engine

CinemaFocus produces realistic focal effects through a simple process with no compromise on quality. The Iris jet engine renders authentic focal effects with stunning speed. This reliable and trusted system has been used by major production sites like Studio Dhibli (in "Howl's Moving Castle"), Animal Logic (in VFX for "Matrix") and many others. >> Major clients

The effects of CinemaFocus are considerably better than the default DOF filter of Adobe After Effects, Sapphire's Rack defocus, Lenscare, Tinder Box2 and other plug-ins which create muddy images and simply blur objects with unnatural algorithms. Moreover, CinemaFocus does not require cumbersome, complicated adjustments for each component of the image the way other filters do. Simply run CinemaFocus and apply the filter to enjoy the Japanese art of "bokeh". A side by side comparison with similar tools will immediately show the virtue of CinemaFocus.
